I love starting the day by putting Satan back in his place…

“Satan’s plan belittled the mother. Satan’s plan made the “blob of tissue” a problem and a passing thought. Satan’s plan would not allow her eyes to see the light of day. God’s plan heard the dad saying, “You can do this babe!” God’s plan dresses the “blob of tissue” in a precious gown. God’s plan has that newborn’s eyes looking up at me, burning a memory into my soul. I love starting the day by putting Satan back in his place, praise God!” - Dr. Harrison

Dr. Harrison is one of our wonderful doctors in our Life Network, who delivers (for free!) about 2-3 babies per month that have been saved from abortion in Charlotte! If you are interested in telling your OB or family practitioner about how THEY can do the same thing in other areas in Charlotte, Cities4Life would be glad to send you a letter from our doctors about how your doctor can get started in this ministry! They are also willing to meet with and discuss the specifics with any practitioner who is interested in knowing more. For more information please contact us HERE.

I could never have imagined…

One of my favorite ministry stories is of “Carlos” and “Rosa”. They came to the Hebron mill in Charlotte in 2004. I was sidewalk counseling that day, saw them and motioned for them to pull over to talk. He was driving and was happy to take my information. Rosa, however, was not. Carlos did not want to abort their unborn child. He had even been to a Crisis Pregnancy Center and had their brochure and fetal model in his glove compartment! She had not gone there with him. She was determined to abort.

He listened to my pleas, offers of help and proclamations of truth. He painstakingly translated my words into Spanish for Rosa. I told him that she most likely needed his affirmation of her and his commitment to her and their child. At one point he even proposed marriage to her right there in front of me! She declined it, however. About an hour into our conversation, I could visibly see her change. Her expression softened, as did her heart. Victory was won for this child!

It was, however, a seemingly short-term victory. She changed her mind again and made another appointment, this time at a different Charlotte mill, one a friend of hers had been to before. I remember well the late night phone call when Carlos called and begged me to pray. He called his pastor and got him involved. Rosa, once again, softened. This time for good!

Months passed and I spoke with Carlos many times. I was sad that I couldn’t speak with Rosa directly, but the language barrier was too great.

I invited them to a shower at my home. At the time, I was showering 5 moms all together. They cheerfully came and brought a bi-lingual friend to help translate. They also brought Rosa’s mother, who Carlos was providing and caring for.

We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner together. They received many wonderful baby gifts and were greatly blessed and encouraged. Rosa was genuinely happy about this baby and she radiantly glowed with joy! She told me over and over, through the translator, how excited she was and how glad she was we were at the abortion center and that she had chosen life. Grandma was happy, too!

At the shower, the Gospel was presented (and translated) and Carlos accepted Christ as his Savior! We prayed with him and it was such a joyous event! Their living arrangement was specifically addressed at this time. He was told that he could not continue living with Rosa and call himself a Christian. He married Rosa a couple of weeks later! Rosa soon followed with her own commitment to the Lord and profession of faith!

Their child’s life was saved and their souls were saved! It usually doesn’t get much better than that…but keep reading and you’ll see that it does, this time.

Their baby, “Carl”, was born, healthy and whole, a few weeks after they got married. I traveled about an hour south to see him as a newborn. I saw them a few times in the first year. He was about one year old in this picture.

The most amazing and incredible news is that Carlos has become an associate pastor of a Spanish speaking church in his area! He is now preaching the glorious Gospel! The day I met them in front of an abortion clinic 8 years ago, I could never have imagined all that God had planned for Carlos, Rosa and Carl. He is good, far above and beyond all that we can ask or think! He is good!

The Whole Picture

What a blessing to attend the Cities4Life dinner. I came away feeling very challenged by all of the speakers. Their vision is contagious, but the thing I noticed most was their love for Jesus, our King… it is fierce, it is uncompromising! That was very refreshing and exciting to be a part of.

During the evening I was reminded of a vision the Lord gave me several years ago. I had been praying about abortion and post-abortive women, asking why things don’t seem to be changing and how frustrated I was becoming. In my spirit I could see a piece of counted cross-stitch that I had been working on. He began showing me how I would work on different parts of the picture at different times. I would stop working in one area to begin in another… to someone else it may have looked like not much was being accomplished. But, in reality, all of these different parts would come together to make up the whole picture. Likewise, I can’t see all of the places that God is working; all the things He’s doing. He sees the end result. He is working to bring all of the pieces together into completion. As I sat there that night, I was again reminded that God is working, all over our city, and this is just the tip of the iceberg!

“I Fear God”

Last summer a young married couple came to the mill at Latrobe, driving over an hour and a half to get there. The young mother was feeling overwhelmed; she had a small baby already, (this next child would make them 13 months apart!) and she and her husband were separated at the time. I stopped to talk to them; both openly admitted they weren’t really sure if they wanted to go through with the abortion. I counseled them to think about it, “over there,” pointing away from the mill parking lot. (There is so much pressure inside an abortuary, where they use sales tactics to close deals and meet quotas, but I was aware of the spiritual pressure that exists over that “driveway line” and knew they wouldn’t be able to think clearly once they crossed it!) They pulled over and I talked with them for a bit, got some background information and was able to share some literature with them. A common line we hear from mothers with older children already is, “I just can’t have another child right now.” The immediate response is, “Mama, you already have another child right now!” I shared my heart with Stephanie and James and told them to stay there and think about it awhile and then I gave them a few minutes. My 11 year old quickly looked up a pregnancy resource center on my phone closer to where they lived, and I called to make a connection in case it was needed.

A few minutes later I walked back to their van and was surprised to see James crying. I asked him what he was feeling and he said, “I fear God.” Now if that isn’t every sidewalk counselor’s dream! A sensitive heart and obvious conviction! “Well James,” I said, “it’s not usually the way I start these conversations, but you are very wise to fear God. Abortion is murder and your heart and conscience have testified to that fact. I am only here to confirm it.” I and another sidewalk counselor named Angela continued to talk to them about other options and the help that was available to them. The pregnancy resource center in their area was ready, and more than willing to help. Stephanie acknowledged that this baby was a gift, and if she didn’t feel prepared to parent again, that she would at least consider adoption. We exchanged information and prayed with them before they left. My older daughter contributed to gas and lunch on their ride home.

That evening, I got a text from James, thanking me for being there, “you saved me from making a horrible decision I would have regretted my whole life.” We texted a few times during the pregnancy; but I was careful because I wasn’t sure if they were going to pursue adoption. Then in early December, I got this adorable picture on my phone, of little Kaylee, bearing her mommy and daddy’s last name. Our family was so excited to see this little girl spared from death, now a happy new member of this small family. We continued to keep contact, and since she decided to keep the baby, Sheryl, with Truth and Mercy Ministries, and I were able to shower her after the fact! My baby was born three weeks later, so poor Kaylee had to wait a bit!

Sheryl and I were blessed to be in their sweet little home, full of pictures that showed the love they shared. James and Stephanie had reconciled, and both shared that they were pursuing a relationship with the Lord. They, and their tiny home were overwhelmed at all Truth and Mercy Ministries had provided, and we weren’t sure they could fit it all in! We talked about growing in the Lord and the importance of reading the Bible and praying together.

Please lift up this young family, as they have a wonderful opportunity to grow up in the Lord together! That was our prayer with them before we left. Also pray for mentors and a strong church connection where they live. Below is a picture of beautiful Stephanie and Kaylee with me and our newest sidewalk counselor, Andrew. Our family is so thankful for heavenly appointments for Life outside of that place of death.

Local Baby Survives Abortion - Miracle of God

Some of you might have heard on the Cities4Life Facebook page about a young girl who had an abortion at 13 weeks and went back 6 weeks later to find out that her baby still had a heartbeat! On February 2nd she had her first OB ultrasound. The nurse said that this young girl “was so excited to see her baby moving all around. God really has touched her heart!” PRAISE JESUS, the baby is fine! God has turned this mother’s heart to her baby and this mom is excited to be welcoming this baby into the world in late summer!

This is a true miracle of the Lord. His hand of protection was on this child, as He hid this precious life from the abortionist’s tools. A C4L Life Team Member has spoken with this mom several times and was able to share the Gospel with her. Please continue to PRAY for her and the baby! What an incredible story of God’s protection of LIFE!!!!!

This mom knew someone on the Life Network who contacted someone from the C4L leadership team who set up her prenatal care with our wonderful doctors in Concord, who are also on the C4L Life Network. We are especially excited that a local RN, who has heard of Cities4Life, wanted to help out and provided this mom with her first glimpse of her baby via ultrasound. Won’t it be great when the C4L Medical Network is able to provide continual care for moms and babies in need?

Do you have an OB, Family Practitioner or RN friend who would want to help to save babies? Our doctors would be glad to send you a “how-to” letter that you can to give to them on how to get their practice involved in actively saving LIVES!
