Beyond Our Full Understanding

My friend and I had been very nervous about taking our families to sidewalk counsel at the Hebron clinic, having been used to ministering at the Latrobe abortion clinic and knowing that Hebron’s clinic was on such a busy street. However, we are learning quickly that this has some great advantages.

We have been very pleasantly surprised by all numerous “thumbs-up” we get along with friendly, encouraging honks! Not only is this a bit amazing, but today a kind woman pulled into the parking lot and told us how her grand-daughter had been scheduled to die at this clinic before her birth. When her son’s girlfriend showed up for her abortion appointment she saw a group of people out in front of the clinic. Rather than have to deal with the “pro-lifer’s” she turned around and never had the abortion! She never even pulled in the driveway, which means nobody there that day had any idea of this life spared due to their efforts UNTIL NOW! And how thankful she and her family are today!! Before leaving, this grateful grandmother rolled down the back window and showed us this precious little girl who looked to be around one year old. What a miracle! It may seem a simple thing to stand-up for truth and righteousness, but the blessings are truly beyond our full understanding.

“God called and we answered!”

I am writing this to share with you the joy that God shared with my wife and I while ministering at the Latrobe Abortion Mill on January 28th, 2012. I hope the reading encourages you to take action and speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Having only been saved by His Grace for a little over a year and a half, I can honestly tell you I didn’t always hold the views in regards to life the way I do now. Since being born again, God began to stir up conviction in my heart to take a stand for what is right. Through my own sinful past, through our children, through friends that were involved in pro-life ministry the Lord began to show both my wife and I that we needed to rise up and help those on the front lines to bring His Love and Truth to the darkness.

In mid January, my wife and I had the opportunity to attend the Cities4Life annual dinner. We got to experience and hear stories first hand of what God was doing in and around our community in regards to standing up for life. After this dinner, we knew we were being called as laborers to defend the defenseless. On January 28, 2012 my wife and I stepped outside our comfort zone and decided to follow the Lord’s calling to Latrobe abortion mill to help minister to the lost. Honestly, I was a little bit nervous, fearing the unknown about this kind of ministry. Growing up, you always hear the worst about pro-life ministry as well as the response from the people at the mills. I quickly turned those fears over to the Lord and prayed for our family to be strengthened by Him in our weakness.

I remember when we were leaving the house and feeling the sun shining on us and thinking to myself that I probably would not need the jacket I was wearing. However, the closer we drove to the mill, the sun seemed to be overtaken by the clouds, and by the time we got there the sky became dark and the weather cold and rainy. Being at the mill was extremely dark and cold both literally and spiritually. My wife and I along with the friends who we came with said a prayer to the Lord for Him to use us today in whatever capacity He saw fit. The first thing I noticed were the loving saints that were already there. There was a microphone and speaker set up, and sweet glorifying music was being played for everyone to hear. As cars started to roll into the parking lot, many Cities4Life brothers and sisters began to speak on the mic. They blew me away with the Love of Jesus they displayed. They began to plead to the moms and dads not to destroy the life that was inside of them. I was amazed as I didn’t hear anyone preaching a condemning message but a truthful message about the Good News of Jesus Christ and His forgiveness of sins. They were faithful to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ and make much of the Love that God exhibits to His followers.

Sadly enough, many more cars began to roll in. Some stopped and were open to talking with us and taking info about alternatives to their abortion. We pleaded for them as they walked in and told them about Cities4Life, and the great options they have, the doctors who were standing by to provide free pre-natal visits as well as free deliveries, we told them about the parents who would love to adopt their child as well as the lavish baby showers that Cities4Life could throw them. Sadly, many of the mothers and fathers had hardened their heart to the good news we were sharing with them and ultimately had their mind made up that they would choose January 28, 2012 to be the day to kill their baby. When in the trenches and engaged in spiritual warfare, the best thing you can do is pray that God would come through and intervene, that His Holy Spirit would convict those we were trying to minister to. We continued to pray…

What happened next brought me to tears. As cars continued to drive in to have their children executed, it felt like the day was getting darker and more spiritually void. In the midst of that horrible darkness, I heard something so sweet, something I have never heard before. My beautiful and most loving wife, who is normally quite reserved and not the most out spoken person in the world, was on the microphone pleading to a couple to choose life. With my wife being from South America and being fluent in Spanish, the Holy Spirit led her to start ministering to a Latino couple who showed up to kill their baby. My eyes swelled up as I heard her being used by God to breathe life into this couple. This couple paused as they got out of their car to listen to what my wife was saying. The closer they got to the door the more intensely my wife pleaded them not to go in. Despite her pleading, they still went in. The husband left the building and with his daughter in the car seat in the back seat departed the parking lot. On his way out, the man stopped and talked to my wife. She was able to give him the truth about life and continue to implore him to choose life. After he drove away, we continued to pray for the family and for God to convict them. About 45 minutes later the man and his daughter returned to pick up his wife. As they left the building, they were smiling. We were able to talk to them once they left the parking lot. Apparently, the mill was backed up and their appointment got pushed back a few hours. The lady and man after hearing the Gospel of Jesus and meeting my wife and hearing her testimony decided to choose life. Hallelujah! My wife gave them her info as well as the doctor’s name who could help them.

Brothers and sisters, I write this to you to share with you the love that God shared with us that day. You see, in our own flesh, we didn’t want to go outside an abortion mill to minister, we didn’t want to wake up early on a Saturday morning to go and stand in the cold rainy weather, we would have rather lay in our warm beds and enjoyed our day off work. However, God called and we answered. I am not saying any of this to boast, but merely to encourage others to answer the calling from which God has given His Church. As the church, we are responsible for standing up for what is right. We cannot keep sitting back and waiting for the secular government to do the right thing. We must stand for what is right and fill in the gap and allow the Lord to use as He sees fit. If you have never been to a mill to minister, chances are you probably have a distorted view of what really goes on there. I implore anyone who follows Christ to take up your cross and allow Him to use you to help bring light to one of the darkest places around a murder mill. It’s happening in our own backyards, what will you do? Will you share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those who so desperately need it?

What did Jesus do?

John 10:10 ”Jesus says ‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.’”

What will you do?

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

When little children pray big prayers…

Time and again, we’ve been blessed to witness what happens as a result of the prayers of children. Adults think their prayers to be “too big” and sometimes encourage them to pray on a lesser level. However, I believe and have seen God honor and affirmatively answer in BIG ways when children pray BIG requests outside of an abortion mill.

One day at the abortion mill last summer, our children, along with some other children, prayed for some nasty music to stop (played by a father to drown us out). Within 2 minutes of the children starting to pray, the music started fading in and out. Then, it STOPPED completely within 4 minutes. After our children witnessed that answer to their prayer, they turned their prayers in the direction of the bouncers, who were also playing loud music. A few minutes later, their music was turned off. This happened not just on one day, but on three separate occassions!

Last Friday at the Latrobe abortion mill, there was a group of fathers at the mill who were waiting on their wives or girlfriends to have their abortions. I saw one man struggling with his conscience and what was being said on the mic. However, soon afterwards, the Enemy sent a “distractive father” to joke around and mock those on the sidewalk. I really wanted that first man to keep his heart and ears turned to the truth. So I asked my two oldest boys, Ethan and Trey, to come pray for that group of 5 fathers and to specifically pray for the distractor to either listen to God or to leave, so that the others could listen. At first, just my two boys prayed. But within a few minutes, they decided to call the rest of the children over to pray. A nice little group of children came over and immediately started praying for these fathers. Within a few minutes, the distractor was gone and the father, whose heart was initially being tugged on by God, came to sit on the trunk of his car, which was much nearer the children and their audible prayers!

Now, I have no reports of a miraculous story of salvation or repentance to share, but I can share that God answered the prayers of these children by sending away the distractor, if nothing else. And we just have no way of telling how God will use what that man heard to someday turn his heart to Christ.

Never underestimate the PRAYERS of children! And don’t let your small faith hold you back from daring to ask the Creator for the seemingly impossible!

Bear Good Fruit!

I love life and I am pro-life and will stand with anybody and proclaim that message and hold out hope. Joined in with 40 Days for Life, a movement started by the Catholic church and committed to coming out this morning to pray in front of the abortion mills in my town. I got there at 9am, me and Cub. We were there for about an hour. I prayed, with others there, for a couple as they pulled in before the mill opened. The woman never lifted her head. Her boyfriend sits in the driver’s side coolly smoking a cigarette, smoke and rock music drift from his slightly rolled down window. Shortly after they arrive, a family with another group, Cities for Life arrives. The mother sets up her loud speaker and in the sweetest, clearest, most loving and truthful words, pleads with the mother to change her mind. 15-20 minutes go by. The mill opens. The couple get out of their car and go inside. Once, the mama looks over to us…then walks through the door her boyfriend holds open for her, into the place her baby is scheduled to die. Minutes later her boyfriend walks out. Leaving her there, he gets into his car and as he speeds out of the parking lot he yells “GOD DOESN’T EXIST.”

My heart brims with tears that somehow won’t fall from my eyes as I watch a mother and father taking their young daughter into the clinic. Her child…their grandchild…dying for inconvenience or embarrassment or the hope of a career…young girls literally bounding like colts as if this is a game and they are at play; older women stone faced and stone hearted, walking determinedly to offer up their children to death. They do not seem to know that this freezing, this hardness, will not just leave them…not even after it is done; men passive and uncaring as their sons and daughters are ripped from the bodies of the women they claim to love…it is such madness.

A car is coming, slows before it reaches the driveway as the same mother on the loud speaker walks over to ask the mama driving if she will take a minute to talk before going in. I go around to the passenger side. the young lady in the seat tells me she is here to support her sister. ”We are Christians. We prayed, but we don’t know what to do.” I tell her about my experience. ”Your sister is already a mama. The only choices for her now are to have her baby and raise it, to have her baby and give it up or to kill her child today. Whatever her choice, she will live with it for the rest of her life. This will not just make it ‘go away’. And the baby she is carrying, that is not just her baby that she will kill. That is your niece or nephew. Your father’s grandchild…I know how she feels right now. Here’s my number. Don’t do this. I’m praying for you. If you do go in, there is hope and healing after, but I hope you don’t need it.” They drive on into the parking lot. They sit there for a long time. Then the doors open and they go in. My heart sinks…but I know there is always hope. I keep praying. We all do. An hour later she comes out. Smiling and waving at the “religious nutbags” on the sidewalk, bouncing for joy in her seat. SHE CHOSE LIFE!

A tree is known by its fruit. I have never seen a mother leaving the mill with joy after an abortion. There is no joy in death. The mamas and dads that choose life experience the relief that comes when a decision is made as well as the joy of knowing they have chosen the good. Right action comes from right belief. Love life, protect life, CHOOSE LIFE!

I love starting the day by putting Satan back in his place…

“Satan’s plan belittled the mother. Satan’s plan made the “blob of tissue” a problem and a passing thought. Satan’s plan would not allow her eyes to see the light of day. God’s plan heard the dad saying, “You can do this babe!” God’s plan dresses the “blob of tissue” in a precious gown. God’s plan has that newborn’s eyes looking up at me, burning a memory into my soul. I love starting the day by putting Satan back in his place, praise God!” - Dr. Harrison

Dr. Harrison is one of our wonderful doctors in our Life Network, who delivers (for free!) about 2-3 babies per month that have been saved from abortion in Charlotte! If you are interested in telling your OB or family practitioner about how THEY can do the same thing in other areas in Charlotte, Cities4Life would be glad to send you a letter from our doctors about how your doctor can get started in this ministry! They are also willing to meet with and discuss the specifics with any practitioner who is interested in knowing more. For more information please contact us HERE.
