Pro-Life Reflections for the New Year

 |

During this time of transition to a new year, many take this as an opportunity to reflect upon their lives and their decisions over the past year and come up with resolutions that will steer them in the direction of meeting certain goals during the next year. A new year can serve as new motivation to step it up in areas where we have become too comfortable. As our country embarks upon the 41st anniversary of legalized abortion, what a great time for us in the pro-life community to reaffirm our commitment to spreading the message of life and truth to a dark world. Maybe you have been hesitant about speaking up about your pro-life values?

Maybe you feel a deeper calling and commitment to help in sidewalk counseling efforts or to volunteer in some capacity of pro-life ministry? Now is the time! Don’t wait. Next month, we embark upon 41 years of legalized abortion in our country. As we rely on God, it is imperative that we do what we can to end this abortion epidemic as 56 million innocent babies have already lost their lives. You may just be one person but by raising awareness of this issue, God may use your voice and influence to change hearts and minds on this issue, to raise up many defenders of life or to even cause a mom to rethink her decision to abort her unborn child.

As Sanctity of Life Sunday approaches on January 19th, this serves as a good opportunity to speak with your church leaders about educating your church on the abortion epidemic and how the body can get involved. It’s almost a new year and we thank God for the opportunities that He has given us to proclaim the gospel and the message of life this year. He has been so faithful to us by providing opportunities for our volunteers to minister to women and families in each of the cities where we operate chapters.  Many have been able to refer women to a pregnancy center or an ICU Mobile unit for access to free ultrasounds.  God has raised up new team members and leaders and made many connections for us from California to New Jersey.

Let us keep the momentum going in 2014 and let us never grow complacent when there are lives hanging in the balance. Let’s continue to raise awareness and to make abolishing abortion a priority. Let us look for new ways to get the message out. Let us commit to serving our Lord with fervor and may we never cease in our prayers and efforts to end abortion. It’s a new year but our message remains the same: all human life is precious in the sight of God.
